Celebrate Autumn

Hello today blog friends!  I was lucky enough to find some time last night to create a card.  I was inspired by some of the bold, beautiful Autumn colors I love to celebrate at this time of the year; and it was fun to be able to incorporate several of those favorite colors into my card.  I hope it captures the essence of the season.
I used a piece of pattern paper for my background, and  I used a Spellbinders background die-cut as the focal point to stand my sentiment.  I added some Petaloo flowers and felt leaves around the sentiment, and I tied blue string and burgundy seam binding around my card and tied them in big bows.  I placed a tiny chipboard heart in the center of the bow.

I was happy to find these challenges where I can link my card and play along in their challenges:
Joy Clair - October Color Inspiration/Photo Challenge - I loved incorporating these amazing Autumn colors

Scrapy Land - Challenge #52 - I do more Harvest rather than a whole lot of Halloween.  I hope that's alright in this challenge.  I was inspired more by the season and colors of Halloween/Harvest Time, and less with an actual occasion per say.

CropStop Challenge - Linky Party #21 - I used blue burlap string, Petaloo flowers, and Tim Holtz Distress Inks

I'm grateful for your visit today, and greatly appreciate your comments.  I hope you are also enjoying this beautiful time of the year.

Peace On Earth

I'm so excited to start making Christmas cards.  It may seem a little bit early to some of you, but with my extra large family, I need to get started in order to have any chance of being able to make a hand-made card for everyone.  This is my first of the season, and I designed it following this sweet sketch from Sketch Saturday Challenge Blog this week:
I used pattern papers from my stash, and instead of a rectangle in the center, I used a round doily; but I really did follow the sketch and it helped me with my layout concept.  I hope to make a couple more cards using this sketch, and I'm sure each will be a bit different.  That's the beautiful thing about art...there's SO much in the interpretation of our creations.  It was even fun to see how each DT Member made their cards so differently from one another.
I added a K & Co. sticker as the focal point, and this was a SUPER STASH item from many years ago; but I thought it looked nice in the center of the doily.  I added some red seam binding, baker's twine, and some jingle bells for the finishing touch.  I am linking my card to these fun challenges where I'm super excited to be playing along this week:

Word Art Wednesday - Challenge #250-251

CropStop Challenge Blog - Challenge #20

That's all for today.  Thank you for visiting me.  Please remember that if you will kindly become my new blog follower, I will be sure to do the same for you.  I'm (slowly but surely) trying to grow my blog, and appreciate you for visiting.

Coffee Talk?

Hello, and thank you for stopping by my blog.  The weekends seem to fly by so super quickly for me; but I'm always happy when I have a little bit of time to step into my craft room and be creative.  I love playing along in challenges, but I don't get the opportunity very often because of my work schedule.  I was able to make a few cards this weekend, and will post them throughout this week and link them to some challenges.  Needless to say, because I can't craft much (especially during the school year) I don't get to enter many challenges so I don't often (if ever) win anything.  But, nonetheless, I like to play along in them when I can.
I made this card using a Memory Box Coffee Die using kraft paper and dark brown, added some sweet baby blue silk trim to tie around it, an embossing folder on my background and a stamped sentiment.  Here are the challenges where I'm linking up:

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #378 - See Inspiration Photo Below - I just love this color combination, and I was also inspired to use a "food/beverage" item because of the photo.  How fun!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "Anything Goes"

Thanks again for visiting me.
