Smile......Because You Can

It's a pretty simple sentiment, but who doesn't need to be reminded every now and then to SMILE?  I thought I'd send it to someone who I know needs some cheering up and encouragement.  I started with the cute sketch over at Sketch Saturday this week, and just kind of put my own spin on it.  I love sketches because they really get me started when I'm in a creative slump.
I used some older patterned papers from Sweetwater.  One has fish on it, and the other is polka dot (to go along with this week's theme at Simon Says Stamp).  To that, I added some inking, two stickers (one for the sentiment and one under my embellishment), and a 3-D felt tree from Michaels that's also from my stash.  I really loved the Design Team's samples on these challenge blogs, and that's what got me motivated to play along in their challenges.  I know it's a fairly simple card, but I'm excited to be able to play along in their fun chalenges.

Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge - Let's Do The Polka - I love using polka dots so this challenge was just perfect for me.

CropStop - Linky Party #15 - Anything Goes - I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Blue Denim to ink my little squares

Have a fun week of crafting, and wherever you live I hope you're enjoying Spring regardless as to whether it's snowing or the sun is shining.  It's still a time to celebrate all that is beautiful, and I'm hoping your day is beautiful.  Psalm 118:24 says, "This is the day that the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it".  Let's celebrate that.  Thanks for visiting me.

Birthday Tag

While I was browsing through some of the various blogs I love (and where I find loads and loads of great inspiration), I saw someone who made a tag to put on top of a birthday gift so that the recipient could use it as a bookmark.  I thought that was such a fabulous idea, so I had to give it a try.  It's nice to be able to use something again and again, and I hope my niece will put this in one of her books and hold onto it as a keepsake instead of throwing it away with the rest of her birthday cards.  Or at least I'm guessing that's where most birthday cards end the garbage.  Not everyone appreciates them as much as I do or saves them like I do.  But this way, there's at least a glimmer of hope that it will not end up in the trash can and will be apprecciated.  Who knows with kids though, right?
I used a grungy prim tag, some super old Daisy D patterned paper, seam binding for the bow, a Verve birthday sentiment stamp, Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink, a Maya Road canvas tag with a Making Memories glittery sticker (7) on it, and a gem sticker.

Here's where I'm linking up my birthday tag:

Happy crafting everyone!

Birthday Wishes

The weekend flew by so quickly for me.  How about you?  But....before it was over, I had time to create one more birthday card.  I used the papers as I did on my last card.  They are from Cosmo Cricket and were part of my stash that I'm trying to use up.  This one is pretty simple.  It's just patterned papers that I inked, machine stitched, and added a sticker with a happy birthday stamp from Verve, and some matching chipboard flowers.  Super simple, but it gets the job done.
I'm happy to be linking my card to these FUN challenges where I love playing along, and I do realize that I'm a creature of habit.  I tend to enter the same challenges, and once in a while I learn about a new one from some of the blogs (and crafters) who I follow and visit often.

Hurray, Happy Birthday!

Hurray for me - I got another birthday card made this weekend.  I'm so excited about it.  Not just because I have another card finished, but also because I can enter this one into some fun challenges that I don't always get the opportunity to play along in (despite how much I wish I always could).  So needless to say, I'm happy, happy, happy!
I took out some patterned papers from my stash.  I've been trying to use up some older Cosmo Cricket papers this weekend.  This one came together easily with these cute papers, some red seam binding, yellow gingham ribbon, flowers, and a happy birthday stamped sentiment in a journalling sticker.  Simple, right?

Here are some of my favorite challenges where I'm excited to play along this week!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Happy 7th Birthday to this AWESOME challenge blog.

Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog - Challenge #152 - Happy 6th Birthday to this AMAZING and fun challenge blog.

Reasonable Ribbon Challenge - Challenge #138 - Flowers and Ribbon - That's always a great combination.

Word Art Wednesday - Challenge #224-225 - Family Friendly/Anything Goes

CropStop - Challenge #14 - Use any product from CropStop - I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot to stamp my birthday image.

I know that I say this all the time, but I will say it again.....I'd really appreciate having you become a new follower of my blog.  And if you do, just leave me a comment and I will be sure to follow your blog as well.  I always love to make new blog friends.

Batter Up!

I can't believe how long it's been since I posted a card.  Unfortunately, being a school teacher in the midst of a busy school year doesn't make for a great crafting schedule.  I always look forwarrd to weekends when I can finally sit down and create some cards, and I get even more excited when I actually have time to photograph, post them, and link them to some challenges.
I made this boy's birthday card for one of my many newphews.  We have such a big family, so I'm always making cards for all their birthdays.  This one will go to Evan who is turning 9 next week.  He is a big baseball fan, and I think he will like this.  I used bits and pieces that I have left over from an old Cosmo Cricket line in my stash.  I used some Tim Holtz Distress Inks to dirty up the edges a little bit.

These are a few of my favorite challenges where I will be linking up my card.

Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge Blog - Celebrating their 7th Birthday, so I am sharing a Birthday Card to help them celebrate!

Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog - Challenge #152 - They're celebrating their 6th Birthday, so I'm sharing my birthday card in this fun challenge.

CropStop Challenge Blog - Linky Party #14 - I used some great Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot) as sold at CropStop.

Thanks so very much for stopping by my blog.  I still don't have many followers, so I sure would love having you follow me if you will.  I'd be happy to do the same for you.  I sure would love hitting 100 followers eventually.  I know it takes time.

Have a beautiful weekend!
