Love Is Sweet

Roses are Red,
Violets are Blue,
Love is Sweet...
and so are YOU! that's little bit cheesy, but I tried.  LOL  I used this beautiful Love Is Sweet sentiment on my card.  It's a very pretty transparency that I have been waiting so long to use.  I put this Valentine's Day card together for my parents.  I can't wait to give it to them.  My Dad will say, "Oh, that's nice".  But my Mom will go bananas over it, and I know she will either put it on display in the living room, or frame it, or something crazy like that.  She always makes me feel like a super star when it comes to my cards.
I used one piece of pattern paper from my stash (it's a favorite that I've been hoarding), and I machine stitched around the edge and gave the edges a light inking to make it dirty and shabby looking.  I used some vintage lace (the wide ivory lace) and some older pink velvet Making Memories ribbon that's also from my stash, two May Arts fabric flowers, three little sequins at the top left, some gold twine, ivory button twine, some ivory and pink blush seam binding, and a vintage button in the center of the bow.

I'm playing along here, in these challenges:

All Buttonned Up

What could be cuter than buttons as an accent or focal point?  I have so many buttons, and I don't always think about using them in creative ways.  I saw this idea on Pinterest, and I just had to give it a try.
I just used pink cardstock, a couple of doilies, a stamped sentiment, a tree die-cut for the trunks, and lots of colorful buttons to represent the leaves on my trees.  This is a super simple card, but the colors in the buttons really made my card more interesting.

I found a few challenges where I would like to play along this week:

Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday Linky Party

CropStop - Anything Goes - I used a My Favorite Things (tree) Die-Cut carried at CropStop, and also used Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink on my sentiment

Word Art Wednesday #218 - Anything Goes/Family-Friendly Challenge

I would really love to have you become a follower of my blog, and I'd be more than happy to stop by your blog to follow you in return.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Staying Sketchy

I already made one card using this sketch from Sketch Saturday, and I just couldn't resist making another one.  I like the sketch, so I saved the template and even added one more layer to it.  It's not a gorgeous card by any means, but I like following the sketch.  It made the design easy.  Once I had that part finished, I just added some felt hearts and a sentiment.  Here's the sketch I followed, and you can play along in this fun challenge, too.
Sketch Saturday - Challenge #394 - You should give this one a try!

Word Art Wednesday - Challenge #217 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

CropStop - Linky Party #12 - Anything Goes - I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to ink the edges of my patterned papers.

Faith, Hope and Love - "H Is For Heart" - I love playing along in this sweet challenge.

I'm happy you're here.   Please stop by again soon!

Well, it's a new week.  That means it's time for more new challenges, and I just love to play along in these inspiring challenges I've found over time while browsing through the blogs of those I admire.  I'm always looking for more challenge blogs, and I'm also always looking for new blog followers.  So, if you choose to share your favorite challenges with me, I'd appreciate that.  AND.....if you choose to follow my blog, I'd be even more excited.   I will also do the same for you.  It's always fun making new bloggy friends and visiting their blogs for inspiration.
This card was created using some Sweetwater patterned paper (from my stash), along with some kraft paper from Paper Temptress.  I followed a cute sketch from Sketch Saturday and used a technique I saw on Papertrey Ink Blog.  I cut some felt banners and felt hearts to create the border, and used another die-cut for the sentiment.

I will be playing along in these challenges:

Sketch Saturday - Challenge #394 - Sketch Saturday - I thought this sketch was SO super cute.  I hope you will play along as well.

Papertrey Ink - Create Along With Us - I saw both Betsy Veldman's card (thanks) and Lizzie Jones' card (Hugs) where they raised up their die-cut word sentiment.  I really wanted to give this a try.  And although I don't have the same dies they used, I worked with what I have; including PTI's Wonderful Words die (forever) and PTI's adorable Hearts Dies (set of 3).

Little Scrap Pieces - Saturday Show It Off Linky Part - Come play along for a chance to win some of Karen's beautiful seam binding!

Word Art Wednesday - Challenge #217 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly - This is a wonderful challenge blog, and I know they would LOVE to have you play along with them.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog - Simon Says "Something New" this week.  I used some new die-cuts and tried a new technique (layering my die-cut sentiments to make them stand out).

Faith, Hope, Love 1 Corinthians 13:13 Challenge - "H is for Heart"

I'm happy you're here.  I hope you will follow my blog and leave me a message so that I can find your blog and stop by to look at your creations.

LOVE Learning New Techniques

I have been SO busy since well before Christmas.  I had a two-week break over the holidays, but I had one thing after another to do.  I didn't get much time in my craft room at all.  But right now, all my papers are graded and my lesson plans are up-to-date.  I just couldn't resist making a card.  I wanted to play along in this week's Make It Monday Challenge at Papertrey Ink, as well as a couple of other challenges.
Papertrey Ink has several different projects to choose from this week,  I followed Laura's Tutorial #207 on Double Partial Die-Cutting.  This was a completely new technique for me.  I had never tried it before, and it was a little bit tricky.  It took me a couple of attempts to get it right, and even then, aaahhh.....let's just say it's a little bit questionable. LOL  I can definitely tell that the word die-cut I used (LOVE) wasn't the best choice for this particular technique, but I had to work with the PTI dies I own.  So, I made it work (somewhat).  I used three different PTI dies including the Tiny Tags Die (flower), Button Card Die Collection (frame cut), and the Wonderful Words Love Die.  Once I had done the Double Partial Die-Cutting technique, I added some felt flowers and buttons.  That's about it.  I really gave it my best shot.

These are the different challenges where I'm entering this card:

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge #236 - 2015 A La Carte - I followed Laura's Tutorial #207 Double Partial Die-Cutting - I used three Papertrey Ink Die-Cuts including the Tiny Tags Die (flower), Button Card Die Collection (frame cut), and the Wonderful Words Love Die and I also used a Papertrey Ink stamped sentiment from the Counting My Blessings Stamp Set.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "Something New" - I used my new Sizzix Die-Cutting Machine,   My old one broke, and I just got a brand new one for Christmas!

Paru's Cardmaking Challenge - Cards and Tags.  FUN challenge with great prizes.  Why not head over to play along with Paru and her friends?!?!?!?

Word Art Wednesday - Challenge #217 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I always appreciate any comments, and would be SUPER excited to have you follow my blog.  It would mean so much to me, and I will be certain to stop by your blog to follow you as well.
