Back To School

It's that time again, and I'm back at another year of teaching.  This is my life, and I have many years of it still ahead.  So far, I'm still enjoying it.  You never know what the new year will bring.  I made this little Back To School card for one of my nieces who is really scared about starting First Grade.  She hasn't attended all-day classes before, and it's an adjustment for her (and for her Mom).  So I just wanted to encourage her.
I used a lot of older supplies on this.  The pattern paper was from Hobby Lobby on clearance, and I also used some bakers twine, a chalkboard sticker, some October Afternoon stickers, and an old pencil.  I thought that was very appropriate for this theme.

I'm entering my Back To School card in these challenges that I love:

Happy Anniversary

It's always en exciting time when family members get married.  Well, my cousin Amelia got married last summer.  I had the honor of being one of her bridesmaids.  It's hard to believe that they are already celebrating their first anniversary next weekend.  We're throwing a little party for them at my Aunt's house, and it's sure to be a good time when our family gets together.  I made this card to give them as they celebrate their fist year of wedded bliss.
I was inspired by the current challenge over at Paper Issues.  Their "New Issue" is Pocket Books.  You can create a book, journal, or something with a pocket.  I had this old canvas pocket in my stash, so I combined it with some brand new Crate Paper Craft Market supplies that they carry in their shop, and it provided me with a place to put a gift card for their gift.  How perfect!

Here are the challenges where I am sharing this Pocket Card, including the one at Paper Issues:

Paper Issues - New Issue:  Pocket Book - As I explained above, I was really inspired by this challenge.  I used an old canvas pocket on my card so that I could include a gift card.  I used lots of great new Crate Paper products on my card.

CropStop - Linky Party #7 - Anything Goes

Little Scrap Pieces - Saturday Linky Party

Word Art Wednesdays - Challenge #197 - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

Thanks so much for visiting my blog.  I always enjoy having people stop by to say hello and take a look at my cards.  It means so much to me.

Bless Your Little Heart

I have been trying really hard to pull out and use some of my older stamps and supplies.  It feels good to use some of my older things because it helps me feel like I'm not wasting them.  When they just sit there, or I try to hang on to them forever, there's just no point and then I feel guilty when I buy new things.  So, this card really uses up some older supplies that have been neglected for far too long.
I used two different pieces from a Crafty Secrets Vintage Cuts sheet, some pretty seam binding, a little kraft polka dot envelope, and a super old sentiment stamp.  I inked the little sentiment strip, too.  I've found a few challenges where I'd like to share my card:

Heartwarming Vintage/Crafty Secrets Blog - August Linky Party - I love my Crafty Secrets Vintage Cuts, and it felt good to use up some of my supplies

CropStop Linky Party #7 - Anything Goes - I used Tim Holtz Ink on my card (found at CropStop)

DLART August Linky Party - Anything Goes

Word Art Wednesdays Challenge Blog - Anything Goes/Family Friendly

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Home Grown Summer - Aren't these flowers lovely?  Living in Minnesota, we have LOTS of wild flowers along the side of the roads, and I enjoy picking them to create a bouquet.  This card really gives that wild flower feel that I love - even though they are just pink roses.

Little Scrap Pieces - Saturday Linky Party

CAS-ual Chic - CCC02 - Udderly Lovely Layers - I used my first layer (kraft card), a second layer (Crafty Secrets image) and third layer (kraft polka dot envelope) with a stamped sentiment (bless your little heart).

It's always nice to have visitors on my blog.  I hope you will follow me, and I will be sure to also follow you on your blog.

For The Birthday Girl

Since I made a card yesterday for my nephew, and had these cute Crate Paper Party Day supplies sitting on my craft table; I decided that I should also make a girl's birthday card to have on hand.  With our large extended family, I just KNOW that I will need it soon enough.  I added some bakers twine, 3-D embellishments, and sequins to decorate it.
It always makes me feel good to have a few extra birthday cards made ahead of time.  That way, if I'm having a really busy week when a birthday party rolls around, I won't feel pressured to have to create one.  My nieces and nephews (and really all my relatives) really enjoy getting my hand-made cards because they know that I make them with a lot of love.  I am so grateful for every member of my family and extended family, and I enjoy giving them cards that are made by me.

These are the challenges where I will be sharing this birthday card:

Pile It On Challenge #80 - Add Sequins And/Or Beads - I added several sequins to this card including red, gold, and green.  I absolutely LOVE adding sequins to my cards and projects.

Little Scrap Pieces Linky Party - Link It Up and Show It Off - Anything Goes

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenges - Tie It Up - I tied it up with baker's twine.

Have a happy day!

For The Birthday Boy

I absolutely LOVE making cards!  I wish that I had quite a bit more time to sit in my craft room and create, but I'll always take what I can get.  I was able to make this card for one of my nephews, and I'm super excited for his birthday party this weekend.  He is a sweetheart, and I know it will be a great time with the extended family.
I used some Crate Paper products on this card, and I added some green, red, and gold sequins as well as brown baker's twine, staples, and red/white polka dot washi tape to embellish the papers.  I love the little race car because it is SO like Tanner to always have a match box car or two in his little pockets.  This really suits his personality.

These are the challenges where I will be sharing my birthday card:

Pile It On Challenge #80 - Sequins And/Or Beads - As you can see, I added LOTS of bright sequins to my card.

Have a great day!
