Beautiful Happy Times

I made this card last night; and as I was choosing the sentiment to put on it, I came across these words (beautiful, happy times).  They really resonated with me, and I just had to use them.  These really are beautiful and happy times in my life, and I'm SO very grateful.  I also love these "edgy" colors.  They just seemed to go so well with the sentiment.
I used some VERY OLD Crate Paper (Restorations and Close Knit) products that I've had in my stash for quite some time.  I machine stitched them together, and added some various little scraps and chipboard pieces from older collections as well.  It's always good to use up your stash.  I also made a bow using Natural Burlap String, and secured it with an ink-stained mini clothes pin.  I just thought that everything together made a really cute card.

I've found a few challenges where I can share my card.  Here they are:

Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday - Anything Goes Linky Party

The Kraft Journal - Challenge #221 - CAS/Ribbon or Twine - I used Natural Hemp Cord and a miniature clothes pin (as found at The Kraft Outlet), and I attached my  design to a kraft card base.

City Crafter - Challenge #259 - The inspiration I took from Stella's card was the cut-out (star) she used.  My frame with chair are actually cut-outs, but I failed to raise up the frame with 3-D tape so that you could see the dimension in it, but that's what I was going for.  I also liked the layout, and the idea of using twine at the top of the card as an accent.

Thanks for taking time to stop by my blog and say hello today.  I hope you will visit again soon.

Crafty Fun With A Sketch

I'm tickled pink because I've had so much time this weekend to create cards.  I made this card based on a sweet sketch I found over at the Sketch Saturday Challenge Blog and I am hoping to find time to create a couple more cards using this same sketch because it's SUPER cute!  I used some pattern paper scraps and left over 3-D embellishments I had from another project.  I love this sweet green color, and thought it looked nice with the pink and black - a new color combination for me.  I also used some vintage tape from Vintage Street Market (I just LOVE that stuff, too)!
Here are the links to the challenges where I'm sharing this card:

Word Art Wednesdays - Challenge #178 - A Family Friendly Challenge For All

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "April Showers and/or Spring Flowers" - I used Spring Flowers (in my background paper), but then again, I always love using flowers.

Happy Day!

Creative Washi Background

Hello again!  I absolutely LOVE the weekends because that's about the ONLY time I can ever get any cards and projects made.  I had time today to do quite a bit of crafting, and this even the second card I've had time to post today.  I saw a fun challenge over at Red Carpet Studios Challenge Blog where you have to be creative with your background (no patterned paper or cardstock), and right when I saw it, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
My background was created TOTALLY by layering strips of washi tape together.  I know it might LOOK like pattern paper, but it's NOT!  I even shared a close-up photo (below) just so that you can see the washi tape strips a little bit better.  Please believe me that this isn't pattern paper, I really did make this myself with strips and strips and strips of washi tape.  I like how it turned out.
These are all the challenges I've found where I can share this fun card:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - April Showers/Spring Flowers - I have flowers AND I have my little girl in her rain coat, rain hat and rain boots.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - "A Is For.......April Showers" - I used April Showers (the girl is in her rain coat, rain hat and rain boots) AND April Flowers - there are sweet flowers in my washi tape background

Paper Sweeties Blog - April Challenge #30 - The inspiration photo helped me choose my color scheme

Red Carpet Studios Challenge Blog - Challenge #97 - Field of Dreams - THIS IS COOL!  I created my "Field of Dreams"/Background COMPLETELY with washi tape.  As described above, I laid MANY strips of washi tape to create the background for my "field" where the girl in standing in the rain

Bright, Fun and Flowery

Some of my favorite crafting items are seam binding, sequins, flowers and beautiful color combinations.  This card has ALL of those things.  I used some October Afternoon pattern papers, pink and yellow seam binding, blue and pink flowers, machine stitching, and some inking.  It's a pretty simple card, really.
These are the challenges I've found where I can link my card.  I don't get the opportunity to play along often, but I'm always happy when I can.

Paper Sweeties April Challenge #30 - Hoppy Easter - I let the colors on the photo inspire me, and I used a Paper Sweeties sentiment stamp on my card

Crop Stop Blog - Challenge #3 - I used Tim Holtz Ink (as found at Crop Stop) as well as May Arts Ivory Burlap String (as found at Crop Stop)

Word Art Wednesdays - Challenge #178 - Anything Goes

V's Sweet Ideas - Challenge #33 - Anything Goes

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenges - "Simon Says A Is For.....April Flowers"

Come Fly With Me

I was asked by a friend at work to create a birthday card for her husband who is a private pilot.  She wanted something with an airplane on it, and I knew that I was really limited with what I had.  However, I did remember this really old line from Crate Paper called Recollections that I absolutely LOVE, and still happen to have pieces of in my stash.  So, I took it out and found the airplane image to make this card.

I used the wooden patterned paper for the background which I machine stitched, inked a roughed up a bit.  Then, I cut some strips of patterned paper for the left border, a couple of playing cards from patterned paper, and added a couple more chipboard pieces and stickers from this line,  as well as a bit more machine stitching.  The sentiment is a Melissa Frances rub-on.  She was really happy with the card, so I was pleased.
I'm going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "Happy Birthday", and this is obviously a birthday card.

Word Art Wednesdays - Challenge #177 - Anything Goes Family Friendly

V's Sweet Ideas - April Anything Goes Challenge

Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday Linky Party

Thanks for visiting, and have an awesome week of crafting and creating.
